Rei Ramirez

A Cuban-born artist based in North Miami, FL, Rei Ramirez’s love and propensity for art is rooted in a childhood filled with prolific animal doodles. Though Rei pursued a degree in Graphic Design from 1999 - 2003 and dabbled in a few art courses, he is largely self-taught and primarily learned to create through experimentation and self-expression.

Participation in live art painting at local events shortly after college garnered him accolades from producers and art lovers alike. Enamored with the emerging Wynwood Arts District street arts scene in 2013, Rei immersed himself more and more in the creation of mural projects, managing to participate in numerous prominent exhibitions and artist collective projects. He continues to steadily build his body or work in his studio, traveling across the state and beyond to create his unique murals. Though Rei started his art career with traditional oil paints, he continues to expand his technical proficiency to mediums that include acrylic, spray paint and more.

Raised in South Florida, Rei credits the concrete landscape ensconced within the area’s urban wetlands as his primary inspiration. Others include human nature, the feminine form, extraterrestrial shapes (crop circles), hieroglyphics and mystic scripts, graffiti, typography, graphic design and 70s and 80s Pop culture imagery.
